CLUB HISTORY

High Lane Junior Football Club is based in High Lane (England) which is about 16 miles south of Manchester, home of Manchester United and Manchester City, and about 8 miles south of Stockport home of Stockport County.
The Club was founded in 1985 by Paul Kenneth and Stewart Clay because there was no local football club for their sons to join. The Clubs official colours are maroon and blue if you had not already guessed, but the colours each team play in vary.
Only one team was run in the 1985/1986 season, the Under 11s who played in the Stockport Metro Junior Football League where they finished 11th out of 14 with a record of Played 26, Won 7, Drawn 0, Lost 19, Goals For 40 and Goals Against 130. The following season 1986/1987 the Club ran two teams Under 11s and Under 12s. Owing to an administration error the Under 11s played in the Reddish and District Junior Football League whilst the Under 12s played in the Stockport Metro Junior Football League.
On Sunday 8th May 1988 the Club won its first trophy, the Under 12s won the Supplementary Cup. The final was played at non-league Stalybridge Celtic's Bower Fold ground when they beat 7th Reddish Juniors 2-1 in a replay after a 0-0 draw the previous week. The Club won something in at least one age group from the 1987/1988 season to the 1994/1995 season. The Club then didn't win anything until the 1999/2000 season when the Under 14s won the Division 2 title. Two years later in the 2001/2002 season, the same team then as Under 16s won the Division 1 title after being runners-up in the previous season.
On Sunday 8th July 2008 the Club won its first tournament, the Under 10s won the Marple Athletic Junior Football Club Tournament, winning 6 out of the 8 games and drawing the other 2, with no goals conceded. They beat Marple Athletic 1-0 in the Semi-Final, then beat Hale United 2-0 in final to win the tournament.
Winning isn't everything though, it's the taking part that counts. A full list of the Clubs honours are listed on the Club Honours page.
The Club has had five chairmen, Paul Kenneth, Phil Torkington, Martin McIlwraith, Glynn Davies and the current chairman, Pete Motley. The Club is affiliated to the Cheshire County Football Association. In 2003 we achieved FA Charter Standard for Clubs status. The FA Charter Standard Club programme, supported by FA partner McDonald's, aims to improve standards of coaching, administration, player development and child protection. We were the second Club in the Stockport Metro Junior Football League to get the award.
We now run teams from Under 8s to Under 17s, we also run a Soccer School, Open Age and Veterans teams (former Stockport County player, Paul Wheeler has played for the Veterans team), and we are also hoping to run some Girls teams in the future. We play most of our home fixtures at High Lane Park and at Disley Amalgamated Sports Club on Saturdays and Sundays. If you or your son(s)/daughter(s) are interested in joining the Club or would like further information then please Contact Us.
High Lane Junior Football Club is not only about football, we support the 'Let's Kick Racism Out Of Football' campaign. If you would like to read the Club Rules and/or the Club Code Of Conduct then please feel free to do so.
