Match report by David Wilde.
Playing in our black training/away kit we looked different but the never give up attitude was the same as all season. New Mills came down to High Lane expecting to have a nice Saturday morning game of football and to get the win as last season saw them play against the year above. Myself, Rob and the lads had other ideas. New Mills couldn't match us in the first-half and like the rest of the season the team passed expertly. Strong defending came from Harper, Melville and Munro to give the team a strong platform to attack. Shaw won the ball and laid it out wide to Jeffs who crossed to Max 'Goal Machine' Hind who hit the back of the net. Southern suffered a bit of cramp and was replaced by Campbell who adjusted very quickly into the team. The team spirit was superb today with everyone full of praise for each other and helping one another out. The second goal came when Munro won the ball and then played a pass to Shaw who found Hind out wide, Hind then chipped a superb through pass into Jeffs path, Jeffs took the ball in his stride knocked the ball past the last defender and buried his shot into the top corner.
Second-half and New Mills came out on the up and threw in a few naughty tackles, High Lane were a credit to themselves as they didn't react and just carried on passing and passing. It could have been 3-0 when Hind beat two men only to see his shot skim past the post. Campbell had a few chances after Shaw played two cracking long balls to the back post but the keeper made some nice saves. Southern replaced Munro who picked up and injury, Munro however came back on for last couple of minutes as we tightened up the defence. Man of the Match was Gus Campbell who created chances and got stuck into tackles and showed what he can do.
Half way through the next challenge is to have an even better second-half of the season which has been fantastic so far. Well done to all the players, the games are superb to watch keep it up.

What else can I say that best describes this game but WOW. I said we would be back to winning ways and what a start. We had some player's ill so we had to change the team around. Dan Whit in net, Dan T right back, Jack C centre and Harry B on the left, in midfield we had Max H on the left, Zac centre and James on the right. Zac and Max have looked good in training and deserved to start. This left George and Liam on the bench.
Number one came after a few minutes James picked up the ball from Dan T and passed to Zac who ran with it straight at the keeper who came out to meet him Zac whipped round the keeper and slotted it in. After that we kept constant pressure on them at the front, Max and James kept running down the wings and passing to Zac who could not miss, he notched up four in total.
Second-half came and George and Liam came on for Zac and Jack and we started scoring again. George looked great on the right, he terrorised their defence and scored twice. He was on target for his hat-trick, he burst in to the box - he had beaten the last defender and was sure to score when the defender took him out with a clumsy challenge. We all shouted penalty. Dan T stepped up and notched up his first goal of the season - cool as a cucumber. Max looked good on the left and was up and down the wing. He should have had two goals but Zac who came on for James late in the second-half of the game nicked his second goal on the goal line! How about that for team work! Max's first was fantastic, he picked it up from Liam at the half way line and went past three players and launched it from outside the box on his left, straight in to the top right hand corner. The keeper had no chance. What a goal! New Mills never gave up and put the defence under constant pressure in the second-half. Liam had to make two goal line clearances, but Dan Whit was determined to keep a clean sheet, he looked in control at the back and made some great saves. Harry as ever was solid at the back and was barking orders like a true captain. He, Dan T, Liam and Jack played as a unit at the back and left the New Mills strikers frustrated.
This was great to watch. They played as a team. Zac and George were on fire at the front they were hungry from the off and proved to all what they are capable of. Max seems to have come in to form and was unstoppable on the left. Liam has looked good all season and is putting solid performances in every week. Man of the Match was really hard but we all agreed that Zac deserved it. Well done everyone. They did not want a friendly so we had a kick around. Hopefully we have stopped the rot. We have Hale next week and we beat them in the first game of the season but they have not lost one since.

Without games in the last two weeks, the first one due to a cup bye and last weeks inter league trials, that saw four
High Lane players, Joe Chorlton, Daniel Johnson, Milo McCullough and George Noon, representing the Club. All players performed very well, with Milo scoring six goals, four of them being created by George, congratulations go to Milo who has been selected for the second trials, only 12 players can be chosen from the 88 nominees, for the Inter League side, so well done to all!
Today's game saw a few tactical changes against a good Juno side who have been performing well this season, the back four had a couple of changes that saw Richie in at left-back Sean moving over to right-back allowing Dan J, a more challenging role in midfield with Marcus making way, up front Mathew with Milo dropping to the bench after last weeks exploits! The team wasted no time in stamping there willingness to win all over this match, Man of the Match Jamie wining everything in midfield and this week finding time to play the simple balls in to team-mates. George on the right was at his excellent best roasting the poor unfortunate Juno full-back on several occasions and creating great chances, with two shots smashing against the post and one just wide, it was only a question of time before High Lane scored. This came when Alex G juggled the ball brilliantly from one foot to another before smashing it into the net (Ronaldo) 1-0. Next was a corner whipped in from George that found Dan B to score his first of the season 2-0 then George got in on the act as Sean won a ball on the half-way line found Matt, who found George just inside the box 3-0. With only minutes to half-time Dan J won the ball, then a good pass to Alex saw him double his account, 4-0 half-time.
As the second-half got under way the game seemed to go a bit flat as Juno consolidated by using a more defensive formation, although High Lane were still creating chances, through Milo fresh from the bench, eager to pounce on any chance, which he did when the ball broke from a corner and he tapped it home 5-0. Juno were not able to create to many chances today through the hard work of the first-half performance, but they were a credit to themselves, never letting their heads drop. well done Juno.
Most pleasing this week other than the goals and those who scored, was Ryan in at left-back and Joe Marshall and Dan B tidying everything up at the back, next week tough game away at Spurley Hey early night Friday, guy's.

I write this two weeks after the game itself as it's taken me that long to calm down. Why, oh why, oh why do we have to play games without recognised refs??
This bloke with a whistle had such a stinker that even I didn't find it funny. Penalties, off-sides, foul throws you name it and it went against us. If you shouted loudest, you got it. Except that when we did shout for things we were roundly abused by the opposition coach. "Don't listen to those muppets!" he clearly yelled. For the life of me I couldn't spot Kermit nor Miss Piggy and so deduced that he was talking about us, including the WAMs. The game threatened to end in disarray after a ridiculous penalty was awarded to them. The sense of injustice was somewhat offset by the fact that Tom Colbert saved it superbly but we left this game verbally and physically bruised. The usual suspects of Mattie Hanson, Jake Miller and David Potter had cracking games despite the intimidation and swearing. Some of our other lads just didn't fancy it though and it's hard to blame them. Should they have to go through this every time they turn up for a game of football??
I apologise if there's detail missing from this report but just remembering it has brought me out in hives - not the places where fluffy little bees make honey - oh, no big angry blotches just ask anyone else who was there, they'll know what I mean.

Just like Man City, High Lane's bubble could have burst! Top of the table crunch time arrived with this away trip to Caerwys. The game started with both sides showing each other deserved respect, with neither creating much going forward until a chance broke for the welsh side, one on one with the keeper which the High Lane keeper won. After 25 minutes High Lane lost their left-back Turkey Muffin through injury, 5 minutes later a long punt from the Caerwys keeper found Jones one on one against the solid Platt, running in on goal, he only half hit his shot which was saved by Gowland, but it fell Kindly for the forward, 1-0. Then after 35 minutes High Lane lost the left-back replacement through injury, this brought attacking player Graydon on to breach the gap, which he did admirably.
The second-half started well for High Lane and they piled the pressure on, but could not find the end product, then on the hour they were hit by the sucker punch, pressing forward the ball was given away cheaply again, and Caerwys broke forward, just as in the first-half the shot was saved and the rebound fell kindly allowing Caerwys to double their lead. 2-0. Some High Lane hearts sunk for a short time, but they started to play with more purpose, Caerwys knew that if they conceded one they would face an onslaught. Time for cool heads, and the Welsh side stayed focused, although High Lane started to get some shots on target with a few near misses from Evans thrown in, all this attacking play was going to take its toll if High Lane couldn't bag, and with a careless ball played inside Caerwys launched an attack playing the ball wide to the right, and with the cross played in at pace Platty tried to emulate his central defensive partners goal poaching antics of last week and smashed the ball home from 2 yards! wrong net Platty! 3-0. Big difference in score line from an evenly contested match, with the game being played in great spirit by both sides and excellently refereed! Defeat was hard to take by the High Lane players but certainly easier this season after last years fiasco, hopefully now that one can be laid to rest! NO MOST PLEASING NOTES THIS WEEK, WE LOST!
